Global Green USA has a huge opportunity to win a $100,000 grant from the Goldhirsch Foundation’s LA2050 Initiative to get rooftop solar on every school, home, and business in Los Angeles — and they need your help. They are leading a coalition of organizations that believes solar energy is an integral part of the solution to combatting climate change.
While this project starts in Los Angeles, it’s much bigger than that. Across the nation, dirty fossil fuels dominate clean energy time and again, and resources like rooftop solar are nowhere near their potential. It’s time to change that.
They want cities to look at solar as a first-choice resource, and to eventually generate 100% of their energy needs through renewable energy. To start the revolution, they are working to generate 20% of the power in sunny Los Angeles from solar energy by 2020 — and to create a model that can be replicated in cities across the county.
They need voices from across the country to tell decision-makers that solar is a top priority for achieving healthy communities. Even if you don’t live in LA, your vote counts.
The proposal, called “Solar in the Sunshine Capital,” is written in conjunction with a handful of other prominent Los Angeles groups, including the submitting organization, The Sierra Club.
