Osman’s Autumn/Winter ‘15 collection references a luxurious, decadent world of freedom, expression and eclecticism.
The colour scheme of this collection is an exercise in constraint. The sharpened focus on palette hones in on three statement colours – red, white and black – creating a pared-back scheme from which to add depth. Through deftly adding layer upon layer to the story in an exploration of the subtleties of colour and texture, fabric becomes a hero of the collection.
Sculptural, architectural silhouettes, stay true to the design signature for which Osman has become renowned. Cut-outs add edge to striking separates while more languid shapes, draping, exaggerated hems and flower-pot flares add nonchalant ease.
Throughout the collection, the use of soft textures such as cashmere and sheepskin temper the strong, minimalist lines of the garments. Galaxy embroidery and marble jacquard are key to this collection and appear in all three colour stories. Hand-beaded embellishment adds luxe detail to floor-sweeping gown and cobweb lace adds a more delicate subtlety to coordinated separates. Contemporary textures such as bonded crackle and plasticized quilted velvet present an overtly modern layer of texture to the overall mix.
The restricted colour palette and clean shapes are expertly enlivened by whimsical details and elements of the unexpected – exaggerated buttons, pom-poms and ankle ties are a nod to the off-beat eccentricities of the avant-garde.
