The AW15 collection reinforces the core of the Lucas Nascimento brand with a strong focus on his trademark unconventional knitwear. The intricacies of his techniques, all designed, developed, programmed and knitted in-house from his studio in London, are emphasised producing garments that barely resemble wool. Padded inlayed knits form protective sweaters that simulate modern quilting, with hints of glimmer blended in lurex and silk yarn, backed with cashmere.
A textile innovator, Lucas Nascimento experiments with material and texture like no other, layering and trapping his fabrics, playing with transparencies and floating ‘fil coupé’, each one cut by hand.
His insatiable quest for development in fabric crafts silhouettes with each unique piece merging for an almost space age aesthetic. Original. Creative. Unseen.
With strong fabrics, bold colours and androgynous cuts, he explores how clothing shields his ideal of woman whilst remaining revealing momentarily, with glimpses of exposed shoulders in single strap shouldered jumpsuits.
Sentimental, Lucas looks to his Brazil interpreting the country’s tropicalism through the rich and exaggerated simplicity of floral lines, textures and colours that feel so true to his roots and are reminiscent of the surrounding interiors and soft furnishings where he grew up. The floral jacquard technique, combining yarns of varying layers, weights and measures, including cashmeres, bouclé and silk backed with leather, are a sign of Lucas Nascimento’s innate skill at making the complicated appear refined and effortless, and the delicate and fragile, strong. Lucas Nascimento provides his multi-faceted muse with second skins in which to feel safe, protected, and cocooned.
Deep colours, peacock blues and burgundy reds are scattered amongst more muted tones of black, military green and chestnut brown, complemented by soft glistening hints of metallic.
