J. JS LEE presents a collection embedded through her personal memories. Inspired by her tomboy childhood years, the J. JS LEE woman is a contrasting mix; different and eccentric, a playful, sports enthusiast yet delicately feminine, slightly awkward and introverted whilst sensitive and soft natured with boyish, short unkempt hair.
From her first childhood introduction to fashion design through her Mother’s hand stitched garments, oversized, sports inspired elastic stitch detail create gathered necklines and defined waists for a relaxed yet feminine silhouette, contrasted with chunky waterproof zippers, detachable fabrics and cut-off pockets through seam manipulation.
Referencing archive family photos, she pays homage by using Mongolian fur edging as an embellishment for the first time, chicly adorned on cuffs, collars and oversized hooded coats as a nod to her 5 year old scruffy self, playing outside out in the Korean winter sunshine.
J. JS LEE pays tribute to her advocates this season, who with their continuous support offer a protective shadow of strength, inspiring the grey tone on tone colour palette. Playful hues of sunshine yellow and bold fuscia pink are interjected to highlight her beloved childhood colours.
The signature J. JS LEE aesthetic is celebrated with masculine undertones of relaxed tailoring in the form of oversized coats, chic blazers, teamed with a new-season style of androgynous loose-fit trousers. Softness is represented through a series of structured skirts, asymmetric fitted tops and A-Line dresses with a 60’s flair.
This season for the first time J.JS LEE has teamed up with innovative, British heritage fabric brand ‘Hainsworth,’ offering Minimal tailoring in the form of classic outwear combined with oversized knitwear, wool jersey dresses and silk shirting, all hailed as texturized wardrobe essentials for the AW15 season.
