Duchamp Autumn Winter 2015 Menswear Collection
Duchamp continue to evolve the new direction and aesthetic for their menswear, presenting the Autumn Winter 2015 collection as part of London Collections: Men.
Colour and fabric innovation are at the forefront for this collection playing on the subtleties of menswear and the use of masculine colours. Two prominent stories form the Autumn Winter journey: Soft Tailoring and Eveningwear.
A sophisticated range of Soft Tailoring is presented through slim silhouettes and the use of statement milled cloths. This story encapsulates Duchamp’s obsession for fabric innovation; Blazers for example include open weave Jaspe effects and woven basket weaves. Suits in three dimensional textures are transformed into separates that build an ever-changing gentleman’s wardrobe, layered with coats in oversized gallischecks, hounds tooth and block coloured wool and cashmere in camel, sea blue, forest green and monochrome.
The DuchampAW15 Evening wear brings classic menswear staples to life through the innovative use of geometric prints and weaves which form subtle three-dimensional effects throughout. Exclusively printed luxury 50-ounce English silk and Italian velvet dinner jackets create an air of opulence and showcase over sized paisley and botanical prints. Navy tonal silk blazers and refined shirting each use subtle contemporary geometric shapes to create a cohesive texture across the collection.
Duchamp traces its origins to a chance discovery by its founder of a cache of 10,000 vintage cufflinks on a trip to a Paris flea market, inspiring him to create his own luxury men’s accessories in his native London. Further inspiration came from a book on Dadaism and the new company created was named after the French surrealist artist Marcel Duchamp. The heritage of the brand today inspires a modern take on artistic inspired accessories made in the UK, complementing a contemporary range of shirting and tailoring using prints exclusively designed in-house and fabrications primarily sourced from Italian and British mills.
