Step-by-Step:
Step 1: Prime your face. Makeup looks so much better once a primer has been applied. Chanel Base Lumière Illuminating Makeup Base not only acts as a primer, but since it’s lotion-based, it also moisturizes your skin while you’re wearing makeup.
Step 2: Using your favorite luminizer, add three to four drops to your liquid foundation in the palm of your hand. Luminizer thins out the foundation so you get an evenly distributed healthy, radiant glow all over your face. For this coveted luminous effect, we adore Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation mixed with NARS Illuminator. Apply the mixture to your face, gently blending with your fingers. Remember to use the tap-it-off technique. This allows the correct amount of formula to be applied to the canvas by eliminating any excess. If you still end up with too much, simply use a sponge as an eraser to remove any extra product. Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation is practically a two-in-one product. It covers imperfections the way a regular foundation does, plus it gives you a bit more coverage if you have mild to moderate dark circles or redness.
Step 3: With brow powder, fill in your brows with an angled brush. (Note: The consistency of brow powder is sturdier than regular eyeshadow powder; the two are not interchangeable.) Begin at the arch of the brows, working your way to the tail. With very little product left on the brush, fill in the inner brow. The brush motion should follow the natural hair growth of the brows. Blend by combing the brows. We found that Smashbox Brow Tech Powder not only delivers a natural effect, it also provides long-lasting results. Apply gel/wax to preserve the formula and keep brows in place all day.
Step 4: Keep your eyes fresh and get fuller-looking lashes by using the tightlining technique. Apply eyeliner—preferably powder eyeliner—right at the upper lash line to create a natural effect and long-lasting results. Curl your lashes and sweep on some black mascara. This triple lash-building approach helps your eyes pop without using faux lashes. For this look, any matte black eyeshadow will work. We recommend Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow Matte in No. 54 Black Lace. To keep your lashes natural-looking, we like Lancôme Définicils High Definition Mascara.
Step 5: Bright red lipstick finishes this classic look perfectly. Select a matte lipstick that will not dry out your lips. We love Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 38 La Fascinante Luminous Matte Lip Color. A true red is so elegant, so bold, and so classy. Apply lipstick right from the tube for more intensity or use a lip brush to tone it down. Make sure to twist the lipstick up, so you can use the tip of it to get right into the inner corners of the mouth. Once applied, lightly dust powder over the lips for long-wearing results.
Bonus tip: Prevent feathering/bleeding with this easy trick: press powder with a medium or small powder brush along the lip line instead of using lip liner. This technique also creates a natural lip look.
