The Golden Grass is native to Brazilian the region of Jalapao. It is very rare and protected. This month is the month of may of its grows and the golden Grass will be ready for Harvest during the October and November months.
It is so golden and its texture fills like gold metal that when held in the hand it looks and feels like strands of gold. The shine is so bright that it overshadows everything around it.
For centuries the community artisans have been transforming the grass into art starting in the village of Mumbuca the former home of former Quilombos.
The natural art of making jewellery from Golden Grass has been passed on from generation to generation of indigenous people. The jewellery and head hair holding tools are exquisite to see.
the plant is protected by law and it is illegal to market Golden Grass before turning it into a craft of art. All jewellery is free of nickel and gold plated.
