Atelier Versace -Haute Couture Collection Autumn/ Winter 2014/15 (with interview)
First day of the Haute Couture shows, with Jennifer Lopez invited to Versace. First day of the Haute Couture shows. As soon as Jennifer Lopez arrives at the Chambre du Commerce & de L’industrie in Paris, she poses on the front steps with Donatella Versace, followed by guests, ready for the occasion in an evening dress and stiletto heels. The tone is set. On the podium, Mariacarla Boscono opens the show in a long fitted skirt and a black jacket with rounded sleeves, which finishes in a triangle with straps at the back. Donatella plays with chic elegance, showcasing the house’s own codes whilst putting forward a luxurious yet modern couture. The cropped jackets have just one long sleeved arm, a bare shoulder revealed on the other side. A corset effect, golden buckles and fringe appear on pieces made around black, white, midnight blue or dark purple. The long dresses possess slits on one side and cover the other leg with trousers. The graphic essence is transformed in volume, with double duchess silk ball gowns coated in silicone, the last of which is worn by the great Stella Tennant. Interview: Mario Testino: For me, the essence of my profession is the shows, that’s where it all starts like the ideas, and fashion starts at the shows. Well, not really because it starts at the ateliers, but for me it starts here so I think it’s very important to come, and it’s true that I’ve been coming for thirty something years, I feel very glad. Moreover at the beginning I had to stand at the back, I couldn’t see all of the shoes, and now I can easily sit down and photograph everything. Fashion is always a frenzy, and Donatella knows how to do it very well. I love it when she goes into her own universe, because that what stylists should do, stay true to themselves. I find she does this very well.
