Lady Gaga wears a one of a kind Million Dollar Hat designed by Gladys Tamez Millinery in collaboration with Swarovski for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show performance of John Wayne.
The first ever Swarovski draped Million Dollar hat designed exclusively by famed milliner Gladys Tamez for Lady Gaga’s Victoria’s Secret Performance is an homage to the million dollar fantasy bra. The hat was designed exclusively for Lady Gaga by go to milliner Gladys Tamez in collaboration with Swarovski for the November 30th performance in Paris, France airing on CBS December 5th, 10/9central. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show is the world’s most-watched fashion show and will be televised in more than 190 countries.
The Million Dollar hat is embellished with 45,700 Swarovski crystals. The hat took 300 hours of labor by 10 craftspeople, it has 60 strands of crystals with each strand containing an average of 750 crystal beads, for a total of 45,000 crystal beads. The crown and brim were adorned with an additional 700 jet black crystals.
Gaga wore the hat during the performance of her song John Wayne. As part of the choreography she took the hat from her personal Gladys Tamez Millinery leather hat travel case that was strategically placed on the stage by a gaggle of Victoria’s Secret Angels. She paired the hat with a new Saint Laurent jumpsuit designed by Anthony Vaccarello.
Valued at an extravagant one million dollars the Swarovski draped hat was inspired by the Million Reasons songstress and her new album Joanne as well as the Grammy award winner herself. The look is Bob Mackie meets Gypsy Rose Lee. The glimmering pinpoints of light on the black felt background of the hat represent optimism and hope and the importance of being true to oneself.
The now iconic custom pink hat as seen on the cover of Lady Gaga’s critically acclaimed album “Joanne” is also a Gladys Tamez creation. Gladys Tamez has made all of Lady Gaga’s millinery surrounding the Joanne launch including her performance on the American Music Awards, SNL, Carpool Karaoke, Good Morning America and the LADY GAGA x BUD LIGHT DIVE BAR TOUR.
Now known as “Joanne Vibes” the look has become a trend with the pastel colors showing up on the runway for SS17 and FW17. Lady Gaga’s white custom hat paired with Brandon Maxwell’s white suite at the 2016 AMA’s was named best Joanne look yet by Vogue US.
