While it was cold and brisk outside, it was all pink and warmth inside as the Pink Gown Fashion Show opened to a standing room only crowd in San Francisco. When the “Fashion for a Cause” event proceeded it was benefited by the participants who support cancer charities as well as the charities themselves. With the house full with 38 models, 150 guests, 8 designers, 4 food sponsors, 21 silent auction items, 5 photographers, 2 videographers, 1 DJ, 2 charities and more than 25 volunteers, the doors opened at 7 and the show started at 8pm.
This pink themed fashion show gave the models for the night the opportunity to be in the spotlight and shine for a cause. The requirements? Fundraise and wear PINK!!! The participants didn’t have to be cancer survivors and those supporting the loved ones were welcome too. The first 25 models on the runway choose to model for the “Rock Your Own” program which means, “come with your design and bring your guests to support us all!!!”
After the first half of the runaway show, intermission opened with featured belly dancers performing traditional moves. It went so smoothly, the hairstyles, original head pieces and dresses were so beautiful. The only problem was that they were so gorgeous that I couldn’t decide which one I like the best! The Fashion Show featured both men and women from a variety of backgrounds. They were also listed on the program guide and had the chance to be a model for the night and strut on the catwalk with their friends and family watching! In addition to help the cause the models of the night had professional hair and makeup and also professional photography services. Models have had the opportunity to win prizes for Highest Fundraiser, Prizes for Audience Favorite and All Cancer Survivors were recognized.
The second half featured designers Scott McFarland, Rodrigo Trujillo, Keneuoe, Brandon Murphy , MIKELSEN, Rebecca Cho, Bijou, Lauren & Troy and a total of 10 models were gracing the sold out crowd with their designs. Prior to that in matter to participate at the event with a designated designer, the model fundraised up to $150 dollars each for the cause.
Where it was a tough decision to make, by the end of the performances I found a dress by Rodrigo Trujillo to be my favorite design for the night! It is a very elegant and futurist gown in my eyes. He just happened to be in New York and I didn’t have the chance to meet him personally. The dress is very pink and made by tulle in layers that reminded me of a swan princess, and in that moment I was utterly and completely sold.
