For AW15, Huishan Zhang continues to manipulate the fabrics and themes from his Chinese heritage – intrigued by the premise of the subtle details found in cultural references, he explores the idea of transformation and co-existing contrasts. Always delving into his roots, he works traditional Chinese Warrior uniforms with hard lines softened to highlight the intrinsic femininity found in his woman, whilst acknowledging and accentuating her fighting character.
Lace, silks and cottons collide with textured wools, tweeds, jacquard and pioneering felt mesh as a Chinese puzzle. Swarovski studs, buttons and custom made cable motif add a detail of energy, while keeping to delicate sheer elegance. Hologram sequins push the concept of opposites, forming a shifting, kaleidoscopic and changing outlook. And dark blueprint, grey drizzle and moonless night black clash beautifully with Chinese red, antique white and refined mink.
There are two sides to every story, and beauty is found in the Eye of the Beholder.
