In its 1st collection he puts his print on the stylistic codes of the house and creates a desirable and easily adaptable wardrobe, done with simplicity and with personality with the stand out piece: the dress. Assymetry, strong textures, ribbons, frills, rich colours and variations of textures like matte and shine signal elegant and timeless fashion. Spring Summer 2012 makes space for a radical, sensual and chic collection; playing with the duality and different facets of women. Winter 12/13 celebrates 10 years of design by Alber Elbaz at Lanvin. And for the occasion, he sings a song with emotion. And the celebrities make no mistake, it’s a good thing to be seen by the side of this small man with the huge talent. And at Lanvin the woman is ageless: 125 years and not a wrinkle in sight, take a look to the casting. Alber Elbaz succeeds in his challenge to always be under the fire of spotlights but without straying away from his philosophy: making women beautiful without ever giving in to the fashion trends. Interviews with Alber Elbaz: When I started at Lanvin, I made lots of dresses because I thought that they’re easy to wear, I tried to introduce a kind of simplicity for the lives of women. I work around a lot around separates, tops and bottoms, blouses, trousers, jackets, the two sides of women, it’s this strict side and the fragile side. It’s this sort of duality in women today who are not just fragile or not just strict but this kind of moment, the two, this kind of sensation, where it’s necessary to have the two in life. 10 years is enormous and it’s nothing, it’s strange for me, but it’s amazing, I’m very happy. It was a party that wasn’t easy to do because I had touched on many moments, I touched on vocabulary, I didn’t want to make it a retrospective, but I wanted to touch on a kind of DNA that I have introduced to the house. I think that this collection it was particularly touching for me, first of all as it’s the 125th year of Lanvin so I started with a little tour of the archives, and I found lots of iconic symbols of the House like the blue Lanvin, the arpeggio, black, bronze and gold, and all the Rateau sreens that had been done with Jean Lanvin and once that I had it all I didn’t want to do it again, I wanted to move forward and say ok it’s not going to be a show with models, but it’s going to be a parade of women, women of all ages, you know that our logo is a mother and daughter, and it’s that which I tried to do.
